A centrifugal separator sits immediately after the aftercooler and removes the water the cooler has condensed. Air enters tangentially, a fixed impeller spins it, and the heavier water droplets are thrown to the wall and drain to the sump while dry air leaves through the centre. There are no moving parts. IPAC horizontal separators are piped in-line, with inlet and outlet on the same axis, and are built in two constructions: the compact WS01 to WS03 for small systems, and heavy-gauge steel fabricated S04H to S15H bodies above 900 SCFM.

Construction

Small sizes

  • WS01, WS02 and WS03 cover 127 to 675 SCFM with 3/4 to 2 inch NPT connections. They replaced the original cast aluminum S01C to S03C bodies with the patented Quick-Loc closure.

Fabricated sizes

  • S04H through S15H are heavy-gauge steel vessels with 150# flanged connections from 2-1/2 to 24 inches. The S4A is an intermediate size between the S04 and S05.

Internals

  • Fixed impeller and anti-re-entrainment baffle. Nothing rotates and nothing wears, so the pressure drop is low and stays low.

Drain

  • Bottom drain connection sized for the SAC120 trap up to the S07H and the SAC100 from the S08H up. Stainless steel construction is available for corrosive condensate.

Capacity is at 100 PSIG. H is overall height, W the body width and C the centreline dimension, in inches. Drain Trap is the recommended IPAC SAC model. The last three rows, S01CB0H0 to S03CB0H0, are the 1987 HiROSS cast aluminum sizes that the WS01 to WS03 replaced - listed so a nameplate can be matched.
